APA Style (7th Edition) Guide: Citations

This guide will help you cite your documents in using the APA 7th ed. publication manula.

When to cite?

  • acknowledging how others contributed to your paper
  • resources you have read and incorporated into your paper
  • when paraphrasing or quoting directly
  • using facts and figures that are not common knowledge
  • using data and datasets
  • reproduce an image from the Internet, even if it is free to use or with Creative Commons license
  • to avoid plagiarism and self-plagiarism (see the Ethical Principles of Psychologists and Code of Conduct, Section 8.11)

Every in-text citation in your paper must have a corresponding entry in your reference list
