If you look into some of them, such as the Directory of Open Access Journals and the Directory of Open Access Books, you will notice that the universe of Open Access academic publications is very broad and diverse. Besides the vast quantity, Open Access academic literature is often of exceptional quality. 

We encourage you to familiarize yourself with Open Access sources of academic literature in your area of expertise. This will help you stay up-to-date on recent developments in your field without having to depend on whatever paid subscriptions your institution has.

The DOAJ project was started in 2003 at the University of Lund. This resource provides access to thousands of academic journals from all over the world in a wide array of disciplines. 

Public Library of Science

This Open Access resource provides academic material in biological sciences and medicine.

 

Hindawi

This publisher issues Open Access journals about topics such as science, medicine, social sciences, engineering, mathematics, and computer science.

Springer Open

 

 

 

Provides access to articles on a broad variety of topics, such as natural sciences, engineering, social sciences, and business administration.
