Repositories and archives are one of the main ways to preserve your oral history work and make it available to other people. Identify repositories and archives that regularly collect oral history material, as these will probably be more frequented by oral historians. In addition to this, check the dissemination methods used by repositories and archives that you are thinking of depositing in. Is the access model broad enough for your needs? Does the institution have effective tools for searching collections? These factors may affect the visibility of the material you deposit.
An archive is not your only option for sharing your oral history project and making it known. There are online platforms that you can use to disseminate your oral history material and increase its audience.
A popular platform to use for these purposes is Omeka, which is open-source and has free options as well as subscription-based hosted options. Omeka can be used to create multi-media online collections and exhibits. It also allows you to assign rich metadata to your items. Omeka works with a wide variety of file formats and has an extensive user community, which means that there is ample documentation and instructional material available.
Other platforms and tools you may use for the dissemination of an oral history project include:
UPRM General Library provides full text access to a good portion of the contents of these journals. Check access options by visiting the Publication Finder database and looking up the journals by title. You can also conduct a subject search in Publication Finder using the term "oral history" to find books and journals related to this topic.
The Oral History Association also issues the following publications:
You can also check the Oral History Association Events Calendar for information on upcoming events, workshops, and institutes.
If you write a book or a book chapter based on your oral history project, these may be some publication options:
